The Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) will join the Federation of Turkish American Association (FTAA) for a demonstration in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

ASA and FTAA will protest the occupation of close to 20% of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Armenian aggression and the Human rights of nearly 1 million refugees. We will call on United Nations to implement the four UN Security Council resolutions and one UN General Assembly resolution. We will ask all efforts taken by the Secretary-General in drawing the attention of the international community to take practical measures to force Armenian aggressors to free Azerbaijan's lands and to return of refugees to their homes.

Resolutions:

1) UN General Assembly Resolution (A/RES/48/114) from December 20, 1993 calling for Emergency international assistance to refugees and displaced persons in Azerbaijan.

2) UN Security Council Resolution 822 April 30, 1993 calling for immediate withdrawal of Armenian forces from Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan.

3) UN Security Council Resolution 953 July 29, 1993 calling for immediate withdrawal of Armenian forces from Agdam region of Azerbaijan.

4) UN Security Council Resolution 874 October 14, 1993 calling for urgent steps to implement Security Council Resolutions 822 and 853

5) UN Security Council Resolution 884 November 12, 1993 calling for immediate withdrawal of Armenian forces from Zengelan region of Azerbaijan.

Today, May 8th marks the 10th year annivarsary of the occupation of Shusha, the heart of Karabagh. The entire culturally-rich with brilliant musicians and eloguent poets population, numbering tens of thousands, fled for their lives when Armenian troops advanced of the city.
